Denpasar Traffic to be Diverted During Ceremony at Puri Agung Gelogor
Traffic flow on several roads in Denpasar City will be temporarily closed from Monday, 7 September 2026, to 11 September 2026. The road closures are related to a series of events for the Karya Angasti Puja Atma Wedana Meligya Punggel Utama Ring Puri Agung Gelogor.
The Head of the Denpasar City Transport Agency (Dishub), I Ketut Sriawan, through the Head of the Patrol Section of Operations, I Gede Eka Prajna Priantara, explained that several road segments will be subject to diversions and closures over the five-day period.
“With the permission of the leadership, the activities will take place across several sessions. From the 7th to the 11th of September next week,” said Gede Eka Prajna, also known as Degus, when confirmed on Thursday (3/9/2026).
On Monday, 7 September 2026, at 07:00 WITA, the first activity, the ‘ngangget don bingin’ or ‘metatah’ ceremony, will take place in the Puri Agung Gelogor area. Denpasar Transport Agency personnel, in collaboration with other officers, will implement a ‘stop-and-go’ traffic diversion system.
From 14:00 WITA to 18:00 WITA on the same day, officers will also be stationed around the Pura Tambang Badung area and along the route taken by the procession.
Gede Eka explained that the ‘ngangget don bingin’ route begins from Jalan Bukit Tunggal, heading north towards Jalan Hasanudin, and continuing to Pura Tambang Badung on Jalan Gunung Batur. For the return journey, the route goes from Jalan Gunung Batur to the Pemecutan intersection, via Jalan Imam Bonjol, heading south towards Jalan Penulisan, and returning to Jalan Bukit Tunggal.
“Attention is required for traffic diversions at the Hasanudin-Bukit Tunggal intersection, the western side of Jalan Tambora, the western side of Jalan Penulisan, and the eastern side of Jalan Gunung Kerinci near Jalan Pulau Buru,” he added.
Designated parking areas have been provided along the southern side of Jalan Gunung Kerinci, Jalan Penulisan, Jalan Bukit Tunggal, the southern side of Hotel Darmadi, and including the Tegal Terminal in Pemecutan, Denpasar.
“The ‘mapurwa daksina’ ceremony will take place internally and will not use the main roads. However, we remain vigilant in accordance with the traffic diversions. On the 7th, we will be on high alert one hour before the event begins,” he explained.
On 11 September 2026, the ‘mapurwa daksina’ activity will take place from 06:00 WITA to 12:00 WITA. Temporary road closures will affect Jalan Penulisan and Jalan Bukit Tunggal.
In light of these activities, the Denpasar Transport Agency requests that the public and road users seek alternative routes to their destinations and follow the instructions of officers to ensure smooth traffic flow.
