The Public Prosecutor of the Denpasar District Attorney’s Office is seeking a prison sentence of seven years and six months for defendant Maulana Rabbani Saputra (32), in connection with a narcotics distribution case in the Bali region.

During the reading of the indictment at the Denpasar District Court on Tuesday, Prosecutor Dewa Ayu Tika Pramanasundari stated that the defendant was proven guilty of illegally possessing, storing, controlling, or providing Class I narcotics, both plant-based and non-plant-based, exceeding five grams in weight. This charge is based on the Indonesian Criminal Code and the Narcotics Law.

“We demand a prison sentence of 7 (seven) years and 6 (six) months for the defendant Maulana Rabbani Saputra, to be reduced by the period the defendant has spent in detention,” the Prosecutor stated. Additionally, the defendant is required to pay a fine of Rp200 million; failure to pay within one month will result in the seizure and auction of his assets to settle the fine.

The prosecution also requested that several pieces of evidence be confiscated and destroyed, including three plastic clips containing crystal methamphetamine (sabu) weighing a total of 11.95 grams net, two plastic clips containing synthetic tobacco weighing 21.60 grams net, and cannabis leaves and seeds weighing a total of 26.54 grams net.

The defendant and his legal counsel, Fandi T.R. Lengkong, stated they would submit a written defence against the charges.

According to the indictment, in December 2025, the defendant ordered cannabis and MDMB-4en PINACA via an Instagram account named WEED420, paying a total of Rp3.5 million via a Sea Bank transfer. He subsequently ordered methamphetamine on 17 February 2026 via an account named HEISENBERG for Rp8,450,000, which he collected in the Serangan Island area of Denpasar. The defendant had reportedly split the methamphetamine into three packages to be stored in his wallet for intended resale.

During a search, authorities discovered the brown wallet containing the methamphetamine in the pocket of the defendant’s clothing. Underneath his bed, police also found a green paper bag containing empty clips, a rolling tool, rolling papers, an electric scale, and plastic clips containing synthetic tobacco, alongside cannabis leaves and seeds. Forensic laboratory results from the Bali Regional Police confirmed the substances were suspected narcotics.
