Denpasar Primary School Admission Quota Drops by 800 for 2026 Academic Year

Registration for the New Student Admission System (SPMB) for primary schools in Bali Province for the 2026/2027 academic year is scheduled to commence simultaneously on 22 June 2026. Ahead of the registration period, information regarding school quotas and capacities is crucial for parents and prospective pupils to consider when selecting their preferred schools. In Denpasar City, each state primary school has a different intake capacity, adjusted according to the number of study groups, classroom availability, and the capacity of each school.

Quoting from the previous year’s SPMB implementation, the total capacity of state primary schools in Denpasar City reached 10,048 pupils. However, for the 2026/2027 academic year intake, the total quota provided has decreased by 800 pupils, bringing this year’s quota to approximately 9,248 pupils. These places are spread across 166 state primary schools with 289 study groups. The quota is divided into four registration pathways: domicile, affirmation, and mutation. The domicile pathway accounts for 80 percent, or 7,347 pupils; the affirmation pathway accounts for 15 percent, or 1,429 pupils; and the mutation pathway accounts for 5 percent, or 472 pupils.

Based on the technical guidelines for the 2026/2027 SPMB issued by the Denpasar City Education, Youth, and Sports Office, the intake capacity for each state primary school is managed by the respective school. The intake capacities for state primary schools in Denpasar City, grouped by sub-district, are as follows: West Denpasar has 43 schools with 81 study groups and a capacity of 2,592 pupils; East Denpasar has 37 schools with 52 study groups and a capacity of 1,664 pupils; North Denpasar has 44 schools with 79 study groups and a capacity of 2,528 pupils; and South Denpasar has 42 schools with 77 study groups and a capacity of 2,464 pupils.

The registration schedule is as follows: Registration and verification will take place from 22 to 25 June 2026, from 09:00 to 13:00 WITA. The announcement will be made on 29 June 2026 at 09:00 WITA. Re-registration is scheduled from 30 June to 3 July 2026, from 09:00 to 13:00 WITA.
