Denpasar Fisheries Office Distributes Fish Farming Aid

The Denpasar municipal government, through its Fisheries and Food Security Agency (DPKP), has distributed fish farming facilities and infrastructure to several fish farming groups (Pokdakan) as part of efforts to strengthen food security and improve community welfare. The handover took place at Pokdakan Mina Sunia Batur Sari, Peguyangan Kaja Village, on Tuesday (9/6), led by Acting Head of the Denpasar DPKP, Anak Agung Ngurah Oka Wiranata, accompanied by the Head of the Fish Farming Empowerment and Management Division, Ni Made Rai Sumarni. Acting Head of the Denpasar DPKP, Anak Agung Ngurah Oka Wiranata, stated that the assistance is part of a coaching and empowerment programme for fish farming communities consistently run by the local government. He said the support for facilities and infrastructure is expected to increase production capacity while strengthening the independence of group-managed fishery businesses. “This fish farming facilities and infrastructure assistance is not only a stimulus but is also accompanied by technical mentoring so that groups can manage cultivation more productively, efficiently, and sustainably,” said Oka Wiranata. Meanwhile, the Head of the Fish Farming Empowerment and Management Division at Denpasar DPKP, Ni Made Rai Sumarni, explained that the aid provided covers various basic fish farming needs, such as pond support equipment, aeration systems, fish seeds, and other facilities tailored to the needs of each recipient group. In addition to handing over farming equipment, the Denpasar DPKP also released 25,000 catfish fingerlings measuring 7–8 centimetres to five recipient Pokdakan groups. The programme is expected to accelerate the increase in freshwater fish production while strengthening the local food supply in Denpasar City. The DPKP also provides technical assistance to cultivators through counselling, field guidance, and periodic monitoring. This mentoring aims to ensure that the distributed aid can be utilised optimally, leading to increased productivity in aquaculture businesses. Through this programme, the Denpasar City Government hopes that aquaculture production will continue to rise, regional food security will become stronger, and community welfare will be boosted. The Denpasar DPKP also affirmed its commitment to continuing to build synergy between the government, farming groups, and the community in realising an advanced, independent, and sustainable fisheries sector.
