Denpasar Customs Attends Destruction of 3.5 Million Illegal Cigarettes
Denpasar Customs Office attended the destruction of state-confiscated goods organised by the Jembrana District Prosecutor’s Office and the Denpasar District Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday (27/8/2026). The destruction carried out by the Jembrana District Prosecutor’s Office took place at the Benoa Auxiliary Office of the Denpasar Customs Office, while the destruction by the Denpasar District Prosecutor’s Office was held at the Denpasar District Prosecutor’s Office.
The destroyed state-confiscated goods resulted from excise enforcement actions during the 2023 to 2025 period, originating from four cases in the Jembrana area and two cases in the Denpasar area. All cases have obtained permanent legal force (inkracht) and received approval from the Attorney General of the Republic of Indonesia and the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia for destruction.
In total, the destroyed goods consisted of 3,547,344 excisable tobacco products in the form of machine-made kretek cigarettes (SKM) and machine-made white cigarettes (SPM). The total estimated value of the destroyed goods reached Rp5,087,543,520, with state losses amounting to Rp3,487,642,628.7.
Head of the Denpasar Customs Office, I Made Aryana, said the destruction represents a tangible form of synergy between Customs and the Prosecutor’s Office in ensuring that excise cases are handled through to the final stage in accordance with applicable regulations.
“We are committed to continuously strengthening coordination and cooperation with law enforcement officials so that every violation can be handled optimally, while preventing the circulation of illegal cigarettes that can harm the state and the public,” he said.
Through sustained collaboration with the Prosecutor’s Office and other law enforcement agencies, Denpasar Customs is committed to continuously strengthening supervision and enforcement against the circulation of illegal goods. This joint effort is expected to protect the public, create a healthy business climate, and safeguard state interests and revenue.
