Denpasar Clinic Launches Therapy Device Capable of Treating Online Gambling Addiction
The Sudirman Medical Centre (SMC) Denpasar has launched the Exomind Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (Exo-TMS) therapy device. Exomind is a modern neuromodulation technology designed to support brain health, mental balance, and the quality of life for people in modern society.
I Gusti Rai Putra Wiguna, a Consultant Psychiatrist at SMC Denpasar, stated that Exomind can assist individuals struggling with online gambling addiction. “Rapid Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation has meta-analyses supporting its use. It turns out that when used with specific protocols, it can reduce cravings for online gambling,” Wiguna said during a press conference at the SMC Denpasar Clinic on Sunday (7/6/2026).
Wiguna explained that the stimuli produced by Exomind can help individuals lose interest in specific games. Additionally, it can improve mood stability and reduce impulsivity, though a series of 20 to 30 therapy sessions is required to achieve these results. “Coincidentally, we are currently conducting this therapy for two individuals suffering from online gambling addiction,” Wiguna added.
Wiguna noted that online gambling addiction is a mental health disorder. “As a clinician, I find treating online gambling addiction even more difficult than, for example, treating drug addiction,” he remarked.
