Denpasar City Police Recommend Deportation of Italian Foreigner for Traffic Violation
Denpasar - The Denpasar City Police Resort recommends deportation for a foreign national (foreigner) from Italy with the initials GI, who is suspected of committing a traffic violation and is deemed to have disrupted public order. The incident occurred on Wednesday (23/4) around 11:00 WITA at the four-way intersection of Jalan Gunung Agung and Jalan Mahendradatta, Denpasar. Denpasar City Police Chief, Kombes Pol. Leonardo David Simatupang, stated in Denpasar on Friday that the enforcement action was taken following the circulation of a video of the incident on social media. According to him, during the enforcement by officers, the foreigner was uncooperative, resisted, and did not respect the officers carrying out their duties. In response to the incident, a joint team from the Criminal Investigation Unit and the Intelligence and Security Unit of the Denpasar City Police Resort quickly secured the individual. The police also coordinated with the Class I Special Immigration Office at Ngurah Rai Port for further examination of the foreigner. Leonardo emphasised that this swift action is a form of the police’s commitment to maintaining community security and order (kamtibmas), particularly in Bali as an international tourist destination. “We will not tolerate any actions that disrupt public order. This is a manifestation of synergy between the police and Immigration in maintaining a safe and conducive situation,” he said. Based on the handling results, the police have submitted a deportation recommendation for the foreigner, which will then be handed over to the Immigration authorities for processing in accordance with applicable regulations. He added that this step is expected to provide a deterrent effect for others, especially foreign nationals, to always respect the laws and norms in force in Indonesia. The Denpasar City Police also urges the public, including foreign tourists, to jointly maintain order for the creation of a safe and conducive situation in the Bali region, particularly in Denpasar City.
