Denpasar City Government Ensures Staple Food Stock Security for Next Three Months
The Denpasar City Government (Pemkot) has ensured the availability of staple goods such as rice, cooking oil and sugar remains secure for the next three months. This is based on the results of monitoring by the Denpasar City Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) at the Bulog Sempidi warehouse.
“For now, the situation remains stable and secure. This means supplies are sufficient with smooth distribution,” explained I Putu Agus Jayadi, Head of Economic Affairs at the Denpasar City Regional Secretariat, on Friday (13 March 2026).
According to Jayadi, the monitoring results found there are 3.86 thousand tonnes of medium rice, including the Denpasar City Government’s Regional Food Reserve (CPPD), and 42 tonnes of premium rice at the Bulog Sempidi warehouse. In addition to rice, there is also a sugar supply reserve of 869 kilogrammes and cooking oil of 2,574 litres.
“The government rice reserve (BPK) threshold for supplies is 45 tonnes. We currently have above 45 tonnes, nearly 47 tonnes. Barring force majeure, there may be further mitigation measures,” said Jayadi.
Jayadi stated that inflation rate fluctuations ahead of Nyepi Day, which coincides with Eid al-Fitr 2026, are lower compared to the previous year. However, he noted that the two major religious celebrations also occurred close together in 2025.
He explained that the difference is partly influenced by weather factors that impact production. Additionally, Jayadi continued, consumer consumption patterns have not yet become flexible with substitute products.
“We are also encouraging the distribution of SPHP rice to maintain price stability and coordinating with suppliers from outside Bali, for example from Banyuwangi, East Java. We also have a cooperation agreement for rice availability with Tabanan,” said Jayadi.
Jayadi urged Denpasar residents to shop wisely and avoid panic buying. “Maintain reasonable consumption patterns and take advantage of cheap markets and government market operations,” he concluded.
