Denpasar City Government and Pelindo Sign Cooperation on Land Use for Benoa Waste-to-Energy Plant

The Denpasar City Government has signed a cooperation agreement with PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 3. The agreement concerns the utilisation of part of the Land Management Rights (HPL) area in the Benoa Port zone for the construction of a Waste-to-Energy (PSEL) facility. The signing was witnessed directly by Environment Minister Moh Jumhur Hidayat and Bali Governor Wayan Koster. The agreement was signed by the Head of the Denpasar City Environmental and Sanitation Agency, Ida Bagus Putra Wirabawa, and Plt Executive Director 3 of PT Pelindo, Daru Wicaksono Julianto. Denpasar Mayor I Gusti Ngurah Jaya Negara said the presence of this facility is expected to become a long-term solution for urban waste management, while supporting the realisation of Denpasar as a clean, healthy, comfortable, and environmentally conscious city for current and future generations. Under the agreement, Pelindo Regional 3 is granting utilisation of HPL land in the Benoa Port area measuring approximately 60,502 square metres. The PSEL facility to be built will support the acceleration of infrastructure development for a more effective and environmentally friendly urban waste management system. Environment Minister Jumhur Hidayat expressed support for local governments in Bali in handling waste and preserving the environment, especially as the waste management approach also integrates local wisdom values. ‘An approach that combines government policy with local wisdom values is Bali’s main strength in building public awareness,’ Jumhur stated.
