Denies Giving False Testimony, Riza Chalid's Associate Not Afraid of Becoming a Suspect

Jakarta - Irawan Prakoso, the trusted associate of Mohamad Riza Chalid, claimed he is unafraid of the prosecutors’ request to the judge to designate him as a suspect for providing false testimony in court. “If I did not give false testimony, but the actual facts, why should I be afraid? That’s it, as simple as that,” said Irawan Prakoso when giving his testimony at the Jakarta Corruption Court on Tuesday (31/3/2026). Irawan emphasised that he never pressured Hanung or Alfian to facilitate the lease of the fuel terminal owned by Riza Chalid’s son, Muhamad Kerry Adrianto Riza. “In all those meetings, I also never acted on behalf of Mr Mohamad Riza Chalid or conveyed his messages to Mr Hanung,” Irawan said outside the courtroom. He admitted to meeting Hanung in 2013, but not to discuss the Merak fuel terminal lease, rather his personal business. “In the meeting with Mr Hanung, I never discussed the OTM issue. So what I discussed was other business opportunities,” he stated. Irawan said that business did not materialise despite discussions with Pertamina officials. After Irawan finished testifying, the public prosecutors highlighted differences between his statements and the testimonies of Hanung and Alfian when they were examined as witnesses in a separate case. Due to these discrepancies, the prosecutors requested that the panel of judges declare Irawan Prakoso in violation of Article 291 of the new Criminal Code for giving false testimony in court. “And through this opportunity, I request or petition the Panel of Judges to designate Mr Irawan Prakoso and other parties who did not give truthful statements under the provisions of Article 291 of the Criminal Code for giving false testimony, with a penalty of seven years’ imprisonment,” said Prosecutor Triyana Setia Putra during the hearing at the Jakarta Corruption Court today. Meanwhile, Irawan was examined today for the case involving Hanung and Alfian, who are seated as defendants. In the hearing on Monday (20/10/2025), Hanung Budya Yuktyanta, the Marketing and Trading Director of PT Pertamina in 2014, had given his testimony in court.
