Dengue kills 18 Rembang children

SEMARANG: Dengue outbreaks have killed 18 children and hospitalized 231 others in 63 villages in Rembang regency, health officials said on Wednesday.

Waryu Cahyadi of the regency's health office blamed the high fatality rate on parents' failure to promptly seek medical treatment for their children.

Prof. Soebowo, a member of the Central Java legislative council, said poor sanitation also contributed to the high incidence of dengue in these villages. (har/01)
