National Economic Council (DEN) is pushing for enhanced oversight of natural resource exports through inter-agency system integration and the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. The move aims to strengthen monitoring of natural resource trade while curbing potential state revenue leaks.

DEN Chairman spokesperson Jodi Mahardi stated that governance reforms focus on natural resource sectors requiring stricter oversight. The government considers data integration and digitalisation as the cornerstone of future natural resource trade surveillance.

“The strengthening measures include inter-agency data integration, acceleration of digitalisation, and AI implementation,” Jodi said in a official DEN statement in Jakarta on Tuesday, 26 May 2026.

He explained that this approach is designed to maximise transparency, tighten monitoring, and improve the effectiveness of natural resource export oversight. The system also aims to minimise deviation and state revenue leaks.

DEN has identified the enhancement of SIMBARA ( Minerals and Coal Inter-ministerial/Agency Information System) as operational integration model. The system connects data across ministries and agencies throughout the mineral and coal trade process, from production and sales to state obligations and export.

” SIMBARA links data across ministries and agencies in the mineral and coal trade process,” Jodi added.

He further explained that this integration enables real-time, interconnected monitoring. The government also considers the system capable of enhancing transparency in national natural resource trade oversight.
