Demonstration of Hundreds of Students in Front of West Java DPRD Building Heats Up

A demonstration by hundreds of students in front of the West Java Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) building in Bandung has been ongoing since 4 p.m. Western Indonesia Time and continued into the evening on Monday (15/6/2026). The situation briefly heated up just before Maghrib, causing the crowd to scatter.

According to Republika’s observations, several firecrackers were suddenly ignited, triggering explosive sounds that dispersed the crowd. Some individuals ran to safety, while a portion of the demonstrators remained stationed in front of the West Java DPRD building.

Following the incident, the crowd scattered towards Jalan Diponegoro and the Surapati area. Police officers are maintaining a tight guard around the demonstration site.

Officers have also urged the crowd to disperse. As of now, demonstrators remain on high alert at the protest location.

Abdul Malik, a student from UIN Sunan Gunung Djati, stated that various student elements initiated the demonstration in front of the West Java DPRD building. He said the protest is a response to public anxiety over government injustice and arbitrary actions.
