Demonstration Ends, M44 Minibus Drivers Resume Operations from Tebet Station

A number of M44 minibus drivers serving the Kampung Melayu–Karet route have completed their demonstration in front of Jakarta City Hall. The drivers have now resumed operating their minibuses.

Based on detikcom’s observations at the western side of Tebet Station on Thursday (6/8/2026) at 15.00 WIB, several minibuses immediately moved to pick up passengers. A number of passengers were already visible inside the vehicles.

“The drivers will now continue working. Continue working again, yes,” said one driver, Rasi, when met near Tebet Station.

Rasi also revealed the outcome of the demonstration with his colleagues at City Hall. Rasi said the minibus drivers will negotiate with the cooperative that provides Jaklingko services.

“The result of the demonstration at City Hall is that we are waiting for a decision. We will ask the cooperative first, ask the cooperative first. The Kopamilet Jaya cooperative. Because the problem is that Kopamilet Jaya requested the Jaklingko 48 operational permit. That’s how it is. So we demonstrated there, and now we have been directed to the cooperative,” he said.

Driver Slamet expressed a similar view. After the demonstration, Slamet admitted he was no longer chasing the daily rental target while operating his minibus today.

“We’re just continuing to work, because it’s already halfway through the day. We’re waiting for a decision this afternoon. At the moment, we’re not chasing the rental target anymore. We couldn’t meet it since this morning, let alone in half a day,” Slamet explained.

M44 minibus drivers are known to have demonstrated at Jakarta City Hall to demand that the Jakarta provincial government evaluate the JakLingko 48A route. The route is considered to overlap with the M44 minibus route, thereby affecting the drivers’ income.

Based on detikcom’s observations at Jakarta City Hall on Thursday (6/8) at around 11.00 WIB, a number of minibus drivers wearing blue shirts were sitting in front of the City Hall exit. The demonstrators wore red-and-white headbands.
