Demolition of houses
Demolition of houses
From Pelita
The lack of openness in South Jakarta's P2K agency (the agency that supervises and controls buildings), has resulted in the forceful demolition of many houses in the Jagakarsa subdistrict.
If the agency had been transparent with regard to its general and city planning regulations, the tearing down of the houses would probably not have taken place. Openness in the agency's plans would have made it possible for the residents to avoid the pitfalls of contravening building regulations. Some homeowners are only aware of the regulations as appended at the kelurahan offices in Jagakarsa. These regulations may have been superseded.
This lack of communication has put residents at great risk of having their buildings torn down by the agency.
The agency needs to look into the matter to avoid similar cases from occurring.
