Mataram (ANTARA) - Secretary I of the Organisation, Membership, and Cadre Development Board (BPOKK) of the Democratic Party’s Central Executive Board, Made Rai Edi Astawa, asserted that the Democratic Party is ready to accept and comply with all provisions regarding the parliamentary threshold (PT) decided by the state.

“As Acting Chairman, I am certainly awaiting instructions from the general chairman regarding the views being deliberated in the DPR, whatever the decision on the 2029 Election Law. This means that whatever PT rule is set by the state, the Democratic Party must be there in the DPR fighting for the people’s aspirations,” said Made Rai on the sidelines of the People’s Competition event held as part of the Democratic Party’s 25th Anniversary in Mataram, Sunday.

He said that regarding the determination of the parliamentary threshold figure, the Democratic Party remains ready, and the party’s main focus at present is how to strive to exceed that threshold. According to him, this is considered crucial so that the party does not lose voters’ votes and remains present in Senayan to fight for the people’s aspirations to the fullest.

“That is why, in the context of the Democratic Party’s 25th anniversary, we continue to rebuild the solidarity and solidarity of cadres so as to form a formidable and effective party machine to answer the challenges facing the party going forward,” said the Acting Chairman of the Democratic Party’s West Nusa Tenggara Regional Executive Board.

According to him, the determination of the threshold figure, including the four per cent reference that had previously been decided, is considered ideal, but his party remains ready even if the national political dynamics decide otherwise. “Certainly whatever the decision on the threshold, the Democratic Party’s General Chairman will formulate a comprehensive winning strategy based on the results of the national political consensus,” he said.

The Democratic Party, he said, remains committed to contesting positively with other political parties in order to maintain its existence and preserve public trust at the national level.

Discussions regarding the parliamentary threshold for the 2029 Election are still being developed as part of the planned revision of the Election Law. This issue came to the fore following a 2024 Constitutional Court ruling which stated that the four per cent parliamentary threshold must be changed before the 2029 Election.
