Democrat Party Engages Tens of Thousands Through the Langit Biru Indonesia Asri Movement
In commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the Democratic Party, the Blue Sky Indonesia Asri Movement continues to be held as a collective effort to protect the environment while strengthening public awareness of cleanliness, health, and environmental sustainability.
A total of 49,628 people, comprising Democratic Party cadres and members of the general public, have participated in the Blue Sky Indonesia Asri Movement across 323 Democratic Party branch offices, with a total of 392 activities carried out in various regions of Indonesia.
A range of activities were undertaken, from community clean-up drives targeting neighbourhoods, rivers, and beaches, to tree planting, free health screenings, and the repainting of places of worship and public facilities.
Democratic Party Chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) said the Blue Sky Indonesia Asri Movement is part of the party’s commitment to delivering concrete action in protecting the environment. The movement is realised through various activities involving cadres and the public across different regions.
“The Blue Sky Indonesia Asri Movement. This is a special programme for our environment. We want to show that development must not leave the environment behind. Therefore, we clean beaches, we clean rivers and the surrounding environment,” AHY explained in a statement quoted on Saturday, 15 August 2026.
National Coordinator of the Blue Sky Indonesia Asri Movement, Ossy Dermawan, said the movement is a direct directive from AHY so that the Democratic Party’s 25th anniversary is marked by concrete actions that benefit the public while supporting the government’s agenda.
He added that AHY also instructed that the movement should not be carried out exclusively by Democratic Party cadres. Instead, participation was broadened by inviting local governments, communities, civic organisations, students, and various other elements of society.
“Hopefully this movement can reignite the spirit of mutual cooperation and togetherness within society. Because when we talk about cleanliness, comfort, and environmental health, it is our shared responsibility. The Democratic Party wants to play its part in that effort,” said Ossy.
This spirit continues to be realised through the implementation of the sixth Friday of the Blue Sky Indonesia Asri Movement on 14 August 2026, which was held through 96 environmental actions in 80 regencies and cities across Indonesia.
