Demer Says PFII Law Will Boost Economic Equality in North Bali

Indonesian House of Representatives member from Bali, Gde Sumarjaya Linggih, known as Demer, has responded to the ratification of the International Financial Centre (PFII) Law. Demer believes the law can provide a boost for economic equality in North Bali. “We welcome the presence of the International Financial Centre Law as a strategic instrument for deepening the financial market and a magnet for global investment,” Demer told detikBali on Saturday (25/7/2026). However, the implementation of this policy must be accompanied by mature mitigation of challenges and equitable infrastructure development so that it is not concentrated in South Bali. “Our biggest challenge at the moment is ensuring that investment preparations do not only pile up in the southern region of Bali, but also become a golden momentum to drive economic development in North Bali,” continued the member of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives. The Chairman of Golkar Bali also explained that the development disparity between South and North Bali has been a concern for years. He believes that with the PFII Law, the central and regional governments are encouraged to map out new potential areas, such as in Buleleng and its surroundings. He sees Buleleng as capable of becoming a logistics support centre, with the development of creative industries and tourism as economic pillars. Furthermore, Demer emphasised that investment readiness does not only concern the provision of land or incentives, but also the readiness of local human resources so that the Balinese people do not become spectators in their own land. “Regulatory support and incentives must be designed comprehensively. We must prepare local human resources who are adaptive to global financial standards. On the other hand, land and digital connectivity infrastructure linking South and North Bali must be accelerated immediately so that the distribution of investment and the economic multiplier effect are truly equitable,” Demer asserted.
