Demand for water soars

JAKARTA (JP): Demand for water for offices and ships calling
at Tanjung Priok Port has soared over the past few years, a
senior official said yesterday.

The demand rose from 569,891 metric tons in 1996 to 575,465 in
1997, official statistics show.

In the first quarter of this year, the demand reached 118,121
metric tons, Tanjung Priok Port spokesman Sudjarwo said here
Wednesday, Antara reported.
