Demak Regency Government Provides Trauma Healing for Students Affected by Food Poisoning from the Free Nutritious Meal Programme

Demak (ANTARA) - The Demak Regency Health Office in Central Java is providing psychological trauma healing to students who suffered food poisoning from the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme provided by the nutrition service unit (SPPG) in Pilangwetan Village, Demak Regency.

“Trauma healing is provided using hypnotherapy to help restore the psychological condition of students and teachers after the food poisoning incident. The target is not only students who were previously affected by food poisoning, but also teachers who did not consume the food but still experienced trauma, so they also receive similar therapy,” said the head of the Kebonagung Community Health Centre, Arif Setiawan, in Demak, Friday.

The recovery of the psychological condition of students who study under the YASUA Pilangwetan Foundation, Kebonagung District, is not only done once; additional therapy will be provided as needed until they are fully recovered.

According to him, the Community Health Centre continues to monitor students and teachers who have been affected so that their psychological condition can recover quickly.

In addition to therapy, health workers also provide education about the importance of maintaining food hygiene and washing hands with soap to prevent potential food poisoning from recurring.

“We also conduct health checks and monitoring through the school health unit (UKS) for students. Currently, many of them are able to return and are ready to receive meals,” he said.

He added that the Islamic boarding school and school are also asked to continue monitoring the food preparation process, including ensuring that the cooking process is carried out properly in the morning and afternoon.

Previously, a number of students in the Kebonagung District experienced food poisoning after eating food from the MBG programme provided by the SPPG in Pilangwetan Village.

Of the approximately 1,500 beneficiaries at the school, ranging from Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI), MTs, to Madrasah Aliyah (MA) levels, 134 students were suspected of being affected. As many as 68 students were treated as inpatients and 66 students were treated as outpatients.
