Jakarta (ANTARA) - Executive Director of the Lokataru Foundation Delpedro Marhaen and colleagues (dkk) will face a verdict hearing in the case of alleged incitement related to the August 2025 demonstrations that ended in clashes at the Central Jakarta District Court, on Friday. In addition to Delpedro, there are three other defendants who will hear the panel of judges’ verdict in today’s session: Lokataru staff Muzaffar Salim, Gejayan Memanggil admin Syahdan Husein, and Aliansi Mahasiswa Penggugat admin Khariq Anhar.

The hearing is scheduled to begin at 14:00 Western Indonesian Time, presided by Chief Judge Harika Nova Yeri.

The four defendants in the case have been charged with a two-year prison sentence for allegedly, with reason and sufficiency, being guilty of committing a crime, namely participating in a criminal act in public with spoken or written urging someone to commit a crime, or inciting people to oppose the authorities with violence.

In the case, Delpedro and the co-defendants were accused of uploading 80 collaborative contents that were inciting and aimed at stirring hatred against the government from 24-29 August 2025.

It is stated that the defendants uploaded electronic information on social media managed by the four defendants, inviting students to participate in the unrest.

The appeals via social media were produced from 24-29 August 2025, wherein the narratives posted by the defendants enticed students, most of whom were under the age, to join for anarchy outside the DPR RI (House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia), in front of Polda Metro Jaya, and other locations.

One post that became part of the indictment is a poster reading “Legal aid for students taking to the street” with the words “Are you students taking part in the action? Do not fear if there is intimidation or criminalisation, contact us immediately”.

Therefore, the actions of the defendants were punishable under Article 76 H in conjunction with Article 15 jo. Article 87 of Law Number 35 of 2014 on Child Protection as amended and added by Law Number 23 of 2002 and Article 28(2) or Article 28(3) jo. Article 45A(2) of Law Number 11 of 2008 on Information and Electronic Transactions as amended and added by Law Number 1 of 2024 jo. Article 55(1) 1 in conjunction with Article 160 of the Indonesian Penal Code.”
