Deloitte Survey: AI Becomes the New 'Work Companion' for Millennials and Gen Z
JAKARTA — Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly inseparable from the daily lives of young workers. For Millennials and Gen Z, AI is no longer merely an additional technology, but has become an integral part of how they work, learn, and manage workplace pressures.
The Deloitte report, titled ‘2026 Gen Z and Millennial Survey’, shows that the use of AI among young workers has risen sharply over the past year. The survey involved more than 22,500 Gen Z and Millennial respondents from 44 countries. Deloitte defines Gen Z as those born between 1995 and 2007, while Millennials were born between 1983 and 1994.
In the report, Deloitte notes that AI is perceived as an ‘accelerator’ rather than a threat. The younger generation views AI as capable of freeing up working time, increasing work output, opening opportunities for career development, and creating new prospects for entry-level employees.
Approximately 79 per cent of Gen Z and Millennials use AI to seek learning and self-development opportunities. Additionally, 72 per cent of Gen Z and 69 per cent of Millennials use AI to seek career advice. Furthermore, 67 per cent of Gen Z and 65 per cent of Millennials utilise AI to help manage work-related stress.
‘In this context, AI is increasingly being used as a career coach, supporting growth, decision-making, and personal resilience, rather than just assisting with task completion,’ Deloitte wrote in its report.
Meanwhile, 80 per cent of Gen Z and 79 per cent of Millennials stated that AI has a positive impact on their working lives. In a professional context, 68 per cent of Gen Z and 69 per cent of Millennials feel that AI improves the quality of their work output. Additionally, 69 per cent of respondents from both generations said AI helps save time and improve work-life balance.
Furthermore, 42 per cent of Gen Z and 46 per cent of Millennials use AI for content creation, such as articles, social media posts, and video scripts. In the fields of design and creativity, AI is used by 42 per cent of Gen Z and 43 per cent of Millennials. Meanwhile, 37 per cent of Gen Z and 39 per of Millennials use AI for project management, and 38 per cent of both generations utilise AI for business strategy and risk assessment needs.
