Dell to increase sales
JAKARTA (JP): The Dell Computer Corporation of the United States plans to increase its computer sales in Indonesia to 300,000 units by the end of this year, as compared with 240,000 units last year, a senior executive said yesterday.
"By that time, Dell will gain a 7.5 percent to 10 percent share of the Indonesian computer market," Dell's South Asia managing director, Andrew Hua, said.
"It means that Dell will be among the top three in the country's computer market," he said, adding that Dell is now among the top ten computer suppliers in Indonesia.
Indonesia is Dell's fourth-largest personal computer market in Asia after Japan, South Korea and China.
He said Dell is investing US$100m for the expansion of its business in the next two years in the Asia-Pacific region.
He explained that, in a bid to increase its sales in Indonesia, Dell will launch direct sales to users and provide toll-free on-site technical phone support and in-house sales support.
"We want Dell's customers in Indonesia to get the same services as Dell's customers all over the world," he said.
In the fiscal year which ended in January, 1995, Dell recorded sales revenues of US$3.5 billion and a net profit of US$149.2 million.(31)
