Deli Serdang wins award for implementing three million homes programme

The Deli Serdang Regency administration in North Sumatra has won the Best Regency award in the Implementation of the Three Million Homes Programme category at the 2026 Batch 2 Outstanding Regional Government Appreciation event for the Sumatra Region, organised by the Ministry of Home Affairs. “This award is an appreciation of the Deli Serdang Regency administration’s commitment to supporting the acceleration of providing decent housing for the community through the Three Million Homes Programme,” said Deli Serdang Regent Asri Ludin Tambunan in Medan on Thursday. As part of the appreciation, Deli Serdang Regency also received assistance for a programme to renovate 300 uninhabitable houses from the Ministry of Home Affairs for communities in need. The regent said the award and support serve as motivation to continue strengthening efforts to provide decent housing for the community. “This award is an appreciation of the commitment and hard work of all parties in supporting the provision of decent housing for the community. For us, this achievement is not merely an award, but a mandate as well as motivation to continue strengthening efforts to provide decent, safe, and affordable homes for the community,” he said. The regent stressed that meeting housing needs is an important part of improving the community’s quality of life. Decent housing not only provides shelter but also serves as a foundation for a more prosperous family life. “I believe that every family has the right to a place to live that provides comfort and safety, and becomes the foundation for a more prosperous life,” he asserted. In supporting the Three Million Homes Programme, the Deli Serdang Regency administration has taken various steps, including accelerating the licensing process, waiving Building Approval fees for low-income communities in accordance with regulations, and preparing land to support housing provision. The assistance to renovate 300 uninhabitable houses is expected to further strengthen the Deli Serdang Regency administration’s efforts to improve housing quality and community welfare.
