Deli Serdang DPRD Deputy Becomes Suspect in Defamation Case Against North Sumatra DPRD Chair
North Sumatra Police (Polda Sumut) have designated Hamdani Syahputra, the Deputy Chairman of the Deli Serdang DPRD, as a suspect in the alleged defamation case against Erni Sitorus, the Chairman of the North Sumatra DPRD. The Head of Public Relations for Polda Sumut, Senior Commissioner Ferry Walintukan, confirmed the designation. He stated that suspect status was granted after investigators conducted a case review. “It is true, the individual has been designated as a suspect,” said Senior Commissioner Ferry Walintukan on Monday (4/5). He mentioned that Hamdani was designated a suspect on 30 April 2026 based on the case review conducted by investigators. However, Hamdani has not been detained. “The designation of suspect status for Hamdani Syahputra followed the case review by investigators on Thursday (30/4/2026),” he said. Previously, Erni Sitorus reported the Deputy Chairman of the Deli Serdang DPRD, Hamdani Syahputra Adjam, for allegedly violating Article 27A of the Electronic Information and Transactions Law (UU ITE) No. 1 of 2024 and Article 351 of the Criminal Code.
