Dekranasda DKI Affirms Nusantara Craftsmanship Must Be Present in Urban Spaces

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairwoman of the Jakarta Regional National Crafts Council (Dekranasda) Hani Pramono has affirmed that traditional works and Nusantara craft products need to be given broader space within urban community life.

She said the presence of Nusantara textiles and craft products at the Dekranasda Goes to Mall event at Agora Mall, Central Jakarta, shows that traditional works can go hand in hand with the lifestyle of modern society.

“I am pleased to see Nusantara textiles present in a mall alongside various products and works of urban communities,” Hani said in Jakarta on Monday.

According to her, traditional works do not always have to be confined to spaces specifically designated for culture, but can be introduced through public spaces that are close to people’s daily lives.

“This presence shows that traditional works do not have to be far removed from everyday life. In fact, with the right space, textiles can become part of today’s lifestyle,” Hani said.

The event is expected to be the starting point for more collaborations that provide opportunities for artisans and small and medium enterprise (SME) players to expand market access while introducing the richness of Indonesian culture.

“To all artisans and business players who have participated, continue to create, innovate, and maintain quality. Do not hesitate to bring our cultural wealth into broader spaces,” Hani said.

Furthermore, she affirmed that Nusantara works have the opportunity to continue growing amid Jakarta’s development as an increasingly global city.

Therefore, collaboration between the government, artisans, SME players, and the business world needs to be continuously expanded.

“Because Nusantara works have an equal place and opportunity to grow amid the development of an increasingly global city,” Hani stated.
