Dekranasda Bekasi aims to create one international-class MSME per district
Bekasi Regency (ANTARA) - The Regional National Crafts Council (Dekranasda) of Bekasi Regency, West Java, has committed to ensuring that each district in the regency has one micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) of international standing, through strengthening capacity and competitiveness in the creative economy sector.
“One of the main policy directions of our programme is to encourage the presence and development of international-class MSMEs in every district,” said the Acting Chair of Dekranasda Bekasi Regency, Nia Yuniawati Asep Surya Atmaja, in Cikarang on Tuesday.
She said the One District, One International MSME programme would be realised through a curation process for flagship MSME products in each area, with selected enterprises then developed in stages so they are not only recognised locally but can also break into global markets.
Nia said the programme was also the main issue presented by Dekranasda Bekasi Regency at the regional working meeting (Rakerda) of the Dekranasda of West Java Province for 2026, held at the Pendopo of Bandung City on Tuesday (15 September).
The One District, One International MSME programme will be implemented more extensively from early 2027 as part of Dekranasda Bekasi Regency’s strategic policy, although the initial stage is already under way.
“We want every district to have a standout MSME. We will upgrade them together, from product quality to branding and marketing, so they can be recognised in world markets,” she said.
According to her, developing MSMEs is not only about improving product quality, but also about ensuring business owners have motivation, a strong business identity and branding, so that their products are highly competitive and can stand alongside international brands.
She believes Bekasi Regency has great potential to push its MSMEs further, provided that creative economy businesses are strengthened continuously through improvements in quality and marketing networks.
“Bekasi Regency is well capable of taking its MSMEs up a level. The potential is there, and so are the business owners. It is now a matter of providing motivation, mentoring and guidance, and opening access so that our products become increasingly high in quality with strong branding,” she said.
The wife of the Acting Regent of Bekasi also emphasised collaboration among relevant stakeholders as a key factor in creating a business development ecosystem that is more focused and delivers a positive impact on regional economic growth.
“We have the largest industrial area in South-East Asia, with 9,100 companies across 11 industrial estates, and there are even 58,000 businesses that already have a business identification number. With strong synergy, these large industries are expected to support small businesses to grow and develop,” she said.
