Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Crafts Council (Dekranas) is marking its 46th anniversary by introducing digital literacy programmes for parents and children, aligning with Government Regulation Number 17 of 2025 concerning the Governance of Electronic System Implementation for Child Protection (PP TUNAS).

The digital literacy programme will be presented through the ‘Kreasi Kriya Keluarga Tunas’ workshop, themed ‘Weaving Warmth in the Digital Era’. The event is scheduled to take place alongside the peak of Dekranas’ 46th anniversary celebrations at Trans Studio Mal (TSM) Makassar, South Sulawesi, on 9 July 2026.

“This activity combines education regarding child protection in digital spaces with hands-on craft-making experiences involving both parents and children,” said Indri Raka Prabowo, Head of Promotion and Public Relations at Dekranas, during a press conference at the Ministry of Communication and Digital office in Jakarta on Thursday.

The event will not only be available in person but will also be broadcast online through various Dekranas social media channels.

Furthermore, the event is expected to foster closer bonds between parents and children through craft-making activities that hone creativity.

“This workshop is expected to serve not only as an educational tool for digital literacy and child protection but also as a momentum to strengthen the role of the family in connecting generations that are creative, characterised, and proud of the nation’s culture,” Indri added.

PP TUNAS is a regulation that governs the responsibilities of Electronic System Providers (PSE) to ensure they provide platforms, services, or features that are child-friendly. The regulation becomes effective on 28 March 2026, and every business entity operating digitally is required to comply with its provisions.

Recently, the government received a commitment to PP TUNAS compliance from Meta, which has begun deleting accounts for users under the age of 16. It is noted that Meta has closed approximately 185,000 child accounts within a two-month period as part of its efforts to comply with PP TUNAS.

The Director General of Digital Space Supervision at the Ministry of Communication and Digital, Alexander Sabar, stated when met at the Ministry office in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (30/6) that this figure represents the latest report received by the government from Meta, which operates Facebook, Instagram, and Threads.

“185,000 (child accounts closed) within two months,” said Alexander.
