Dekopin Chairman: Only Under Prabowo Has the Cooperative Movement Received Attention

The Chairman of the Indonesian Cooperative Council (Dekopin), Bambang Haryadi, has expressed appreciation for President Prabowo Subianto’s attention to the cooperative sector. Bambang stated that it is only under the Prabowo administration that the cooperative movement has received serious attention.

“It is only under this President’s administration that the Indonesian cooperative movement has received attention and become a priority programme for the people’s economy,” Bambang said at the peak event of National Cooperative Day at the Indonesia Arena, Jakarta, on Sunday (12/7/2026).

Bambang noted that the cooperative movement in Indonesia felt a lack of attention over the last three decades. Yet, he said, cooperatives are mandated in Article 33, paragraph 1 of the 1945 Constitution.

He explained that the 79th National Cooperative Day serves as a momentum for the revival of the cooperative movement in the country. He is confident that the attention from the Prabowo administration will strengthen Indonesia’s cooperative system.

“This 79th National Cooperative Day is a momentum for the revival of our cooperative movement in Indonesia, and we are confident that under the President’s leadership, cooperatives will become the main pillar, the primary driver for the Indonesian people,” he said.

Bambang also dismissed the notion that cooperatives are outdated. He cited the example of many European football clubs that are managed through a cooperative system. He believes the cooperative movement in Indonesia will grow stronger under the Prabowo administration.

“We are confident that cooperatives will rise again in the era of the President’s leadership,” Bambang concluded.
