Defying Operations During Eid Holiday, 124 Trucking Companies Face Sanctions
The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has imposed sanctions on 124 trucking companies that violated the Eid holiday truck restrictions. Some vehicles even passed with over-dimension over-loading (ODOL) conditions, akin to obesity. The sanctions follow the numerous trucks operating during the Eid transport restrictions. This was stated by Director General of Land Transportation Aan Suhanan in an official statement on Monday (23/3), as reported by Detikfinance.com. “Based on RFID data at KM 54 on the JORR E toll road from 13 March to 21 March 2026, there were 158 goods transport vehicles with 3 to 5 axles that passed during the goods transport restriction period, and those vehicles were detected as ODOL,” he explained. Aan revealed that from H-8 to Eid day, Jasa Marga recorded 3,968 goods transport vehicles diverted on 17 toll roads at 54 locations. The toll roads include Tol Dalam Kota, Jagorawi, JORR E, Jakarta-Tangerang, Cipularang, JORR W2U, Jakarta-Cikampek, Palikanci, Batang-Semarang, Semarang ABC, Semarang-Solo, Solo-Ngawi, Ngawi-Kertosono, Surabaya-Gempol, Gempol-Pandaan, Gempol-Pasuruan, and Pandaan-Malang. “Up to today, there are 124 goods transport truck owners who violated the operational restrictions on goods transport, and some violated up to three times,” Aan stated. The most frequent violators are trucks owned by PT SIL, PT MUPM, PT IWE, PT FRI, and PT PF. For the violators, Kemenhub officially issues administrative sanctions in the form of warnings not to repeat operational violations. Kemenhub also requires violators to submit a written Statement Letter promising not to commit similar violations. “If the warning sanctions are also ignored, we will impose license suspension sanctions. We do this to smooth vehicle traffic ahead of the peak return flow of Eid mudik. We prioritise aspects of safety and comfort for road users,” Aan explained. Aan stated that the implementation of goods transport restrictions in accordance with the Joint Ministerial Decree (SKB) from H-8 to Eid day reduced the volume of class III-V goods vehicles by 69.83 percent, from 131,267 vehicles to 39,608 vehicles. Previously, Kemenhub required all logistics companies to comply with the goods transport restriction rules. This is stipulated in the SKB applicable to vehicles with three axles and above, including those with tandem trailers and attachments, as well as vehicles transporting mining products, quarry results, and building materials.
