Defrauded in Online Eid Fashion Shopping? Trade Minister: Report to PKTN Immediately!

Jakarta — Minister of Trade Budi Santoso has urged the public who become victims of fraud when buying Eid clothing online to immediately report the matter to the Ministry of Trade. Reports can be submitted directly to the Directorate General of Consumer Protection and Trade Order (Ditjen PTKN).

Budi emphasised that the Ministry of Trade is open to receiving complaints from the public who feel harmed in commercial transactions, including those occurring on digital platforms.

“Simply file a complaint (Report to PTKN), straight away! We are indeed open to everyone,” said Budi after inspecting food price conditions at Rawasari Market in Central Jakarta on Monday (16 March 2026).

Budi explained that fraudulent practices in buying and selling transactions are indeed part of the Ministry of Trade’s oversight responsibilities. Therefore, the government continues to monitor public trading activities, including transactions conducted through online systems.

As part of strengthening oversight efforts, the Ministry of Trade is currently re-evaluating Ministerial Regulation of Trade (Permendag) Number 31 of 2023. This regulation governs various aspects of commerce through electronic systems, ranging from business licensing to monitoring of business operators.

“So we will review it, we will evaluate it again later together with other ministries and business operators,” he said.

For information, Permendag 31/2023 itself regulates business licensing, advertising, guidance, and oversight of business operators in commerce through electronic systems.

Through the revision of Permendag 31/2023, the government is reportedly also considering the regulation of administrative fees charged by e-commerce platforms, with the aim of making UMKM products more competitive, especially when facing direct competition from imported products on marketplaces.
