Defiant discos to be closed

JAKARTA (JP): The city administration will close down
discotheques which continue operating beyond the permitted
closing time of 2 a.m., Kuseini Budiantoro, head of the City
Security and Order Office, warned yesterday.

"We have allowed several discotheques closed down recently to
resume operation. But if they still violate the operating hours
we will not hesitate to close them again," Kuseini said.

In a related development, a city councilor urged the municipal
administration to revoke the operating permits of defiant
discotheques for good.

"The city administration should closely monitor the activities
of these discotheques to wipe out the impression that there is
collusion between certain city officials and the owners of the
discotheques," Saud Rahman said. (31)
