Defendant in Indramayu Family Murder Case Faces Death Penalty Demand
Prosecutors from the Indramayu District Attorney’s Office in West Java have demanded the death penalty for defendant Ririn Rifanto in a case of premeditated murder involving five members of a single family.
“We therefore demand that the defendant (Ririn) be sentenced to death,” said Public Prosecutor Eko Supramurbada during a trial held at the Indramayu District Court on Thursday.
In the sentencing demand, the Public Prosecutor stated that Ririn was legally and convincingly proven to have committed the criminal act of premeditated murder and to have participated in acts of violence against children resulting in death. The prosecutor assessed that all elements of the indictment had been fulfilled based on the facts revealed during the trial process.
“The defendant’s actions annihilated one family of five victims, carried out in a sadistic manner,” Eko stated.
Aggravating factors, according to the Public Prosecutor, included the deep suffering inflicted upon the victims’ family, the defendant’s flight after the incident, the disposal of evidence, and the convoluted testimony given during the trial. The prosecutor also considered that the defendant’s actions caused public unrest, while no mitigating circumstances were found.
The differing sentencing demands were based on the respective roles of each defendant as revealed during the trial. “We demand that the defendant be sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment, reduced by the time already served in arrest and detention,” Eko said.
According to information gathered, the murders occurred in Paoman Village, Indramayu Regency, in August 2025, with five victims identified as Sahroni (75), Budi (45), Euis (40), RK (7), and an eight-month-old baby.
