Defendant Claims Accumulated Emotions Behind Girlfriend's Murder and Mutilation
Alvi Maulana, the defendant in a case involving the murder and mutilation of Tiara Angelina Saraswati in Mojokerto, East Java, has disclosed the reasons behind his killing and mutilation of the victim. Before the judge in court, Alvi admitted that his emotions had accumulated over time.
The trial concerning the murder and mutilation of Tiara was held at the Mojokerto District Court, East Java. Alvi, the sole defendant in this case, was subjected to various questions by the judicial panel.
Alvi stated he had known Tiara as they were classmates at Trunodjoyo Madura University. After approximately three months of courtship, the couple eventually dated for four years and lived together for approximately one year before the murder occurred.
“Due to my emotions, my emotions had accumulated, it was accumulative, there was no other motive, Your Honour,” Alvi said during the court session on Monday, 9 March 2026.
Alvi mutilated Tiara’s corpse in the dormitory bathroom after killing her. He admitted his emotions were in disarray, ultimately leading him to decide to dismember the victim’s body into hundreds of pieces so that his heinous act would not be discovered.
“The intention to mutilate arose a few moments after she (Tiara) died. My thinking at that time was essentially how to ensure it would not be discovered (that I had killed my girlfriend),” he stated.
Alvi also acknowledged using his skills from having previously served as a committee member for animal sacrifices to mutilate Tiara’s body. After resting, that evening he disposed of the body parts in shrubland along the Pacet-Cangar route, in South Pacet Hamlet, Pacet Village/District, Mojokerto.
During this opportunity, Alvi also expressed his apologies and remorse, particularly to all those who had been affected by his heinous actions.
“I would like to apologise to Tiara’s family and everyone affected. I regret everything I have done,” he said.
