The Ministry of Defence (Kemhan) of the Republic of Indonesia will hold a final honour for General (Retired) Ryamizard Ryacudu on Monday, 1 June 2026. The ceremony recognises his service and dedication to the nation.

“As a final tribute to the late general’s service and dedication to the nation, the Ministry of Defence will conduct a ceremonial honour and lying-in-state for General (Retired) Ryamizard Ryacudu,” said Colonel (Arm) Rico Ricardo Sirait, Head of the Defence Information Bureau at the Ministry of Defence’s Secretariat, in a statement on Sunday, 31 May 2026.

Rico stated that the general’s remains are scheduled to arrive at the Ministry of Defence at 7:30 AM WIB on Monday for lying-in-state in front of the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (BTI) Hall. The lying-in-state ceremony will be led by the Deputy Minister of Defence as the inspecting officer.

The Ministry of Defence will then hold a farewell ceremony at 11:00 AM WIB before the remains are transported to the Kalibata National Heroes’ Cemetery in Jakarta. General Ryamizard will be laid to rest with full military honours at the cemetery.

“The military funeral ceremony will be led by the Minister of Defence as the inspecting officer,” Rico added.

Ryamizard was a retired senior army officer who served as Army Chief of Staff from 2002 to 2005. He later served as Defence Minister under President Joko Widodo from 2014 to 2019.

Throughout his career, Ryamizard made significant contributions to safeguarding national sovereignty and strengthening the country’s defence system.

For the Ministry of Defence, Ryamizard was more than a former minister; he was a leader whose legacy of dedication and commitment to national defence remains influential. Rico stated that his ideas, policies, and service will continue to shape the ministry’s efforts in preserving Indonesia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
