Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Head of the Defence Information Bureau (Karo Infohan) of the Ministry of Defence’s Secretariat General, Brigadier General TNI Rico Ricardo Sirait, stated that the majority of retirees have given a positive response to the defence programmes built during President Prabowo Subianto’s leadership.

Sirait made this statement after Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, along with high-ranking TNI officials, invited the retirees to a closed meeting at the Ministry of Defence office in Central Jakarta on Friday.

“Most of them responded positively after receiving explanations from the Minister and the TNI Chief of Staff regarding future strength development,” said Sirait.

Sirait explained that during the meeting, Sjafrie detailed various ongoing defence strategies, such as the food resilience programme and the construction of territorial development battalions (BTP).

Additionally, Sjafrie also addressed recent defence issues in Indonesia, one of which is the Letter of Intent (LoI) or statement of intent regarding US-requested airspace transit permissions.

In response, the retirees provided inputs and analyses to Sjafrie to ensure the programmes run more optimally.

“Of course, the retirees have considerations and very good analyses,” he clarified.

Sirait himself did not detail the specific analyses and inputs given by the retirees to Sjafrie at the forum.

Sirait only assured that all suggestions, criticisms, and analyses from the retirees will become one of the government’s considerations in determining future strategic steps.

“Going forward, they will be part of evaluations, improvements, or inputs in developing national defence policies,” explained Sirait.

It is known that the meeting was attended by TNI Chief of Staff General TNI Agus Subiyanto and three service chiefs, namely Army Chief of Staff General TNI Maruli Simanjuntak, Navy Chief of Staff Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali, and Air Force Chief of Staff Marshal TNI Mohamad Tonny Harjono.
