The Ministry of Defence (Kemhan) and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) are preparing a four-day work scheme as one of the efforts to achieve measurable and gradual efficiency in fuel oil (BBM) usage.

Head of Information at the Kemhan Secretariat General, Brigadier General Rico Ricardo Sirait, stated that the BBM efficiency policy aligns with the directives of President Prabowo Subianto some time ago.

“As a follow-up, Kemhan and TNI are making internal adjustments that are administrative and managerial in nature. Efficiency is focused on support aspects, while strategic operations and defence readiness remain the top priority and are maintained optimally,” Rico said in a written statement on Tuesday (24/3).

Rico explained that the prepared steps include arranging the use of resources more effectively and based on priorities, including in the operations of military equipment and official mobility.

“All policies are implemented adaptively, measurably, and gradually according to the needs of each work unit,” he said.

Some of the things being prepared include adjusting workdays from five days to four days for certain functions that allow it.

Then, arranging the use of military equipment based on priority indices and operational needs.

“Limiting the use of official vehicles and employee shuttle transport while still considering the effectiveness of task implementation,” he said.

Rico emphasised that this efficiency is a manifestation of readiness and discipline in managing strategic resources, not due to an emergency situation.

“The government also emphasises that the national energy reserves are currently still in a safe condition. Through these steps, Kemhan and TNI invite all elements to jointly strengthen national resilience by prioritising efficiency, responsibility, and the spirit of national defence,” he said.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto urged the public to save on fuel oil (BBM) usage amid the Iran war against the United States (US)-Israel.

He conveyed this at the Merah Putih Cabinet Meeting at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Friday (13/3).

“I think we can study this issue, I think we must make efforts to save,” Prabowo said.

Prabowo stated that Indonesia must not be complacent and must always prepare itself for the dynamics occurring in the Middle East (Timteng).
