Jakarta — Indonesia’s Defence Ministry has released 27 buses as part of a free homecoming programme organised for TNI military personnel and their families on Friday.

The bus dispatch ceremony took place at the Defence Ministry headquarters in Central Jakarta and was attended by several senior officials from the Defence Ministry, including the Secretary-General of the Defence Ministry, Lieutenant General Tri Budi Utomo.

Tri Budi explained that the activity was organised to facilitate TNI military personnel and their families in undertaking the homecoming journey so they could reunite with their families during the Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

“The number of participants in this 2026 Eid homecoming programme is 712 people. That includes their families, civil servants, TNI personnel, and their families,” said Tri Budi during a press conference at the Defence Ministry office.

The participants will depart from Jakarta to several major cities including Lampung, Yogyakarta, Solo, and Surabaya.

Beyond facilitating the homecoming journey, the Defence Ministry will also provide transportation for them to return to Jakarta.

“Hopefully by 28 March they can be back with us here to resume regular activities,” explained Tri.

Tri added that before deploying the Defence Ministry’s buses, the Ministry had conducted mechanical inspections to ensure the vehicles were fit for use.

The Ministry also ensured that all drivers were in good health and fit to drive long distances.

With this activity, Tri hopes that all members of the Defence Ministry and TNI family can undertake their homecoming journey safely, smoothly, and in a conducive manner.
