The Ministry of Defence has announced that the construction of port facilities for the aircraft carrier Giuseppe Garibaldi in Teluk Ratai, Lampung, has reached 76 percent completion. Director General of Defence Forces at the Ministry of Defence, Air Vice-Marshal Hendrikus Haris Haryanto, stated that the development is part of preparations to welcome the Italian-built carrier, which is scheduled to arrive in Indonesia on 20 September 2026. He noted that the port facility will be equipped with various operational support amenities, while the Indonesian Navy continues to accelerate the completion of infrastructure to ensure all facilities are ready before the ship’s arrival. Previously, the Head of the Indonesian Navy Information Service, Rear Admiral Tunggul, stated that the construction at the Lampung Naval Base includes dredging the shipping channel, building mooring facilities, and increasing the electricity supply to support the aircraft carrier’s operations.
