Defence Ministry Confirms Regional Civil Servants Have Begun Participating in Komcad Programme

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Defence has confirmed that civil servants in regional government hierarchies have begun training as reserve components or komcad. This was assured following the South Sulawesi Provincial Government enrolling 500 of its ASN to participate in komcad training. “Currently, 500 ASN from the regional government in South Sulawesi are conducting basic military training. It was opened on 30 March,” said the Head of the National Reserve Agency of the Ministry of Defence, Lieutenant General TNI Gabriel Lema, when met at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, East Jakarta, on Wednesday. Gabriel explained that the movement of regional ASN participating in komcad training is part of the local government initiative. The Ministry of Defence, Gabriel continued, only provides training facilities and instructors for the regional government ASN. During the komcad training, the South Sulawesi ASN receive various basic military education materials, ranging from shooting exercises to thematic content related to strengthening nationalistic spirit. He hopes that what is being done by the South Sulawesi Regional Government can be followed by other regional governments so that all ASN in the regions can obtain quality education through komcad training. “Perhaps after South Sulawesi, there will be Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, then North Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Riau Islands, even regional governments in the eastern regions to participate in komcad training,” Gabriel explained. The Ministry of Defence has confirmed that 1,773 ASN from 55 ministries and agencies in Jakarta will participate in training as prospective komcad at TNI military facilities. They will undergo basic military training (latsarmil) at several locations provided by the TNI, including Pusdikkes, Skadik 301, Pusbahasa AU, Kodam Jaya, and Pasmari 1 Marinir Cilandak. They, Gabriel continued, will undergo training for one and a half months and will subsequently be inaugurated in June 2026.
