Defence Ministry Confirms One TNI Soldier Killed and One Seriously Injured in Israeli Attack in Lebanon

Zionist Israeli military forces carried out an attack on the Indonesian UNIFIL peacekeeping base in Lebanon on Sunday (29/3/2026). One TNI soldier was reported killed and remains at the UNIFIL post in Marjayoun, southern Lebanon.

According to information obtained by Republika, another TNI soldier is currently in a serious condition. The individual is receiving treatment at a hospital in Beirut, as per the information obtained by Republika.

The Ministry of Defence (Kemenhan) has confirmed the death of a TNI soldier serving with UNIFIL. Head of the Defence Information Bureau at the Kemenhan Secretariat General, Brigadier General Rico Ricardo Sirait, revealed that a total of four TNI soldiers were victims of the Israeli attack.

“We confirm an incident in the UNIFIL Lebanon assignment area due to escalating security conditions. There were casualties among TNI soldiers: one deceased, one with serious injuries, and two with minor injuries who are currently receiving medical treatment,” said Rico when contacted by Republika in Jakarta on Monday (30/3/2026).

According to Rico, the TNI Peacekeeping Forces in Lebanon became victims amid the fighting in southern Lebanon. For further information, he added, it will be provided by TNI Headquarters.

“It should be noted that the incident occurred amid artillery exchanges, and the clarification process is still being conducted by UNIFIL. Further operational developments will be conveyed by the TNI,” Rico stated.
