Defence Minister warns Civil Servant Reserve Components to beware of influences undermining bureaucracy
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin has reminded members of the Civil Servant Reserve Component (Komcad) to be wary of various influences that could weaken the Indonesian government’s bureaucratic system.
“I have previously mentioned the existence of an ‘enemy within’, referring to parties that do not want Indonesia’s bureaucracy to be strong. Yet, you are trained specifically to ensure the bureaucracy becomes robust and serves as a role model,” said Sjafrie during a briefing for ,1773 civil servants set to be inaugurated into the Komcad at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, East Jakarta, on Wednesday.
Sjafrie stated that the Civil Servant Komcad members bear the responsibility to strengthen the bureaucracy and act as exemplary figures in their respective workplaces upon completing their training.
According to him, there are parties, both domestic and foreign, that do not wish to see the Indonesian bureaucracy develop and grow stronger. “External parties do not want Indonesia’s bureaucracy to be strong. There are even those within Indonesia whom we refer to as the ‘deep state’,” he noted.
He emphasised that Komcad members must enhance their personal capacity, nationalism, and patriotism as essential tools for performing their duties as state apparatus. He added that the values acquired during Komcad training should serve as the foundation for maintaining integrity and professionalism in the workplace.
By prioritising nationalism and professionalism, the Civil Servant Komcad is expected to deliver optimal performance for the public interest while simultaneously strengthening the government’s bureaucratic system.
“One thing you must observe is vigilance. Do not allow yourself to be influenced by conflicting ideologies, as our ideology is clearly Pancasila. Our politics is clearly defined by the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia,” Sjafrie said.
Previously, the group was officially released by the Head of the Defence Reserve Agency of the Ministry of Defence, Lieutenant General TNI Gabriel Lema, at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, East Jakarta, on Wednesday.
The participants underwent basic military training (latsarmil) for one and a half months at several TNI facilities, including the Health Education Centre (Pusdikkes), Education Squadron (Skadik) 301, the Indonesian Air Force Language Centre (Pusbahasa AU), the Jaya Military Regional Command (Kodam Jaya), and the 1st Marine Force (Pasmar 1) Cilandak.
The Ministry of Defence plans to open the second wave of Komcad training for civil servants once the first wave is completed. For the second wave, the prepared quota reaches 2,000 participants.
