Defence Minister Urges YTP Troops in Aceh to Boost Public Welfare

Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin has requested that soldiers of the 855/Raksaka Dharma (RD) Territorial Development Battalion (YTP) in Gayo Lues Regency, Aceh, contribute to improving public welfare through various empowerment programmes. The request was made during Sjafrie’s visit to YTP 855/RD in Panglima Linting Village, Dabun Gelang District, on Thursday. “The presence of the Territorial Development Battalion not only serves to maintain regional security stability but also contributes to improving public welfare through territorial development programmes, regional empowerment, and social community activities,” Sjafrie said in a Ministry of Defence press release received in Jakarta. He also expressed appreciation for YTP 855/RD’s contribution to post-disaster recovery efforts in Aceh some time ago. In addition to community programmes, he assessed that adequate facilities and infrastructure are crucial factors in supporting the soldiers’ performance in carrying out their duties. Therefore, the Ministry of Defence is committed to meeting the base facility needs to support YTP soldiers in serving the community. With this support, Sjafrie believes YTP 855/RD can be more optimal in maintaining regional security while helping to improve residents’ welfare. “The presence of YTP 855/RD is expected to act as a catalyst for improving security, regional economic growth, and strengthening national resilience in the Aceh region,” he said.
