Defence Minister urges YTP soldiers to foster harmonious relations with the people

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin has urged soldiers in the Territorial Development Battalion (YTP) to build good relations with surrounding communities to maintain a harmonious atmosphere. “All soldiers should consistently maintain harmonious relations with the community and avoid any actions that could hurt the people’s feelings, whether individually or as a unit,” Sjafrie told the soldiers during his visit to Brigif TP 34/Cakra Buana and Yonif TP 889/Gagak Winangsih in Indramayu, which was then continued to Yonif TP 890/Gardha Sakti in Garut, on Wednesday (22/4). In an official press release received in Jakarta on Thursday, it was explained that the visit was conducted to ensure the readiness of each YTP in carrying out their duties. All those duties, Sjafrie continued, must be carried out by the soldiers to complete the tasks of the state that have been given to all YTP ranks. “TNI soldiers come from the people, are raised by the people, and essentially must serve fully for the interests of the Indonesian people based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution,” Sjafrie explained. Therefore, Sjafrie hopes that all soldiers serving in YTP will be even more enthusiastic in carrying out their duties to strengthen the state while serving the community. “Soldiers must enhance their capabilities and make every skill they possess as provisions in facing various threats to the state, as well as to protect all Indonesian people,” he concluded.
