The presence of Yonif TP 916/Bara Sakti in Bitung is expected not only to strengthen defence readiness but also to drive grassroots economic growth, support food security, bolster community security patrols, and serve as a partner to the local government.
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin has urged the troops of the Territorial Development Infantry Battalion (Yonif TP) to contribute to improving the people’s economy.
Sjafrie made this statement on his official Instagram account @sjafrie.sjamsoeddin during his inspection of the construction of Yonif Territorial Pembangunan 916/Bara Sakti in Bitung, North Sulawesi, on Thursday (7/5).
“The presence of Yonif TP 916/Bara Sakti in Bitung is expected not only to strengthen defence readiness but also to become a driver of grassroots economic growth, a supporter of food security, a reinforcer of community security patrols, and a partner to the local government,” Sjafrie said in his Instagram post on Friday.
In the future, Sjafrie continued, the results from managing food security land and preserving fish seeds can be directly enjoyed by the surrounding community.
In terms of infrastructure development, Yon TP personnel can be deployed to build public facilities for residents, such as bridges and roads.
Therefore, his presence at the headquarters of Yon TP/916 Bara Sakti was to ensure that the troops have adequate facilities to carry out their duties.
In the photo uploaded by Sjafrie on his Instagram, he is seen inspecting the troops’ kitchen, training area, and meal menu list. The inspection concluded with Sjafrie delivering a motivational address to the troops.
