Defence Minister urges Seskoad students to adapt to changing times

Student officers of the Army Command and Staff School (Seskoad) are expected to grasp developments in the strategic environment, information warfare and increasingly complex geopolitical dynamics, while holding firmly to nationalism, patriotism and professionalism.

Jakarta (ANTARA) — Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin has asked students of the Army Command and Staff School (Seskoad) to be adaptive to the progress of the times, especially in the field of defence.

“The student officers are expected to be able to understand developments in the strategic environment, information warfare and increasingly complex geopolitical dynamics, while holding firmly to nationalism, patriotism and professionalism,” Sjafrie said while addressing officers of the 68th Regular Education Course (Pasis Dikreg) of Seskoad for the 2026 academic year at Seskoad, Bandung, on Tuesday (21 July), as quoted from his Instagram post.

In a photo posted on Sjafrie’s Instagram account, @sjafrie.sjamsoeddin, on Wednesday, the Defence Minister could be seen addressing Seskoad students in one of the school’s main halls.

With that knowledge, he said, Seskoad students will be able to take strategic decisions in the future. According to Sjafrie, those are the qualities that the nation’s future leaders must possess.

“A leader must have sharp analytical skills, the courage to make decisions, the ability to build a unit, and responsibility for every task entrusted to them,” Sjafrie said.

He continued that these qualities can be learned by students during their studies at Seskoad. He therefore hoped the students would take their studies seriously so that they can become quality leaders of the nation in the future.

“Keep improving your competence, uphold the honour of the institution, put the interests of the nation and state first, and remain loyal to Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia and the Indonesian people,” Sjafrie said.
