Defence Minister Urges Civil Servants in Reserve Component to Act as Role Models
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin has requested that civil servants (ASN) who have completed their Reserve Component (Komcad) training serve as role models within the ministries and agencies where they are stationed.
“This is your pride; you will show your ministers that the bureaucracy within the ministries and the government of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) possesses exemplary figures, and those role models are all of you,” said Sjafrie during a briefing for 1,773 civil servants set to be inaugurated into the Komcad at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, East Jakarta, on Wednesday.
Sjafrie stated that the presence of Komcad civil servants in every agency is expected to provide a positive impact on bureaucratic performance and government services. According to him, these civil servants have gained various lessons during their one-and-a-half-month basic military training (latsarmil) alongside the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI).
Sjafie noted that an understanding of these values is expected to strengthen the spirit of patriotism and devotion to the nation. He added that a sense of nationalism combined with professionalism would encourage Komcad civil servants to deliver their best performance within their respective work environments.
“You have answered the nation’s call as Komcad civil servants and will improve the quality of work within ministries and agencies,” he said. “The people demand responsibility from the civil servants who will soon become Komcad officers to stand alongside the Indonesian National Armed Forces as a primary component in facing the future challenges of the Indonesian nation.”
A total of 1,773 civil servants participating in the Komcad education originated from various government agencies in Jakarta. The participants underwent basic military training for one and a half months at several TNI facilities, including the Health Education Centre (Pusdikkes), Education Squadron (Skadik) 301, the Indonesian Air Force Language Centre (Pusbahasa AU), the Jaya Military Regional Command (Kodam Jaya), and the 1st Marine Force (Pasmar 1) Cilandak.
The Ministry of Defence plans to open Komcad training for a second wave of civil servants once the first wave of the programme has been completed. For the second wave, the prepared participant quota reaches 2,000 people.
