Defence Minister: TNI Soldiers are Guardians of Sovereignty from Sabang to Merauke, Not Limited to Their Duty Areas

Indonesian Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin stated that every TNI soldier is a guardian of sovereignty across the entire territory of Indonesia, not limited merely to their assignments.

He made this remark during a working visit to Brigif TP 34/Cakra Buana and Yonif TP 889/Gagak Winangsih in Indramayu, followed by a visit to Yonif TP 890/Gardha Sakti in Garut, on Wednesday (22/4/2026).

“Every TNI soldier is a guardian of the sovereignty of the Unitary Republic of Indonesia. This duty is not confined to their assigned areas but encompasses all national interests throughout the land, from Sabang to Merauke,” said Sjafrie, quoted from a press release on Thursday (23/4/2026).

“Every soldier firmly upholds the Sapta Marga and the Prajurit Oath as the foundation of morals, ideology, and dedication,” he stressed.

According to Sjafrie, the professionalism of soldiers must be continuously sharpened through ongoing training, hard work, and a willingness to keep developing.

On that occasion, Sjafrie reminded soldiers to maintain harmonious relations with the community and avoid actions that could hurt the people’s feelings, whether individually or as a unit.

Sjafrie expressed appreciation and pride in the spirit of the soldiers.

He advised soldiers to continue enhancing their capabilities and to regard every skill as preparation for facing various threats and protecting all Indonesian people.
