Defence Minister Sjafrie Discusses Airspace Security with Coordinating Minister AHY

Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin discussed the security of national airspace with Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) during a meeting at the Defence Ministry office in Central Jakarta on Thursday. The meeting was shared on Sjafrie’s official Instagram account @sjafrie.sjamsoeddin. “This meeting discussed the security and control of national airspace as an important part of efforts to safeguard state sovereignty,” Sjafrie stated in the photo caption. According to Sjafrie, air defence is a key government priority because it will affect national resilience. With strong airspace defence, the country can more easily strengthen the economy through the Defence Supporting Economy programme. However, Sjafrie did not elaborate on the specific points discussed. He also expressed hope that the meeting would strengthen coordination and cooperative relations across ministries. In the uploaded photos, Sjafrie and AHY were seen smiling at each other, lending a warm atmosphere to the meeting. Sjafrie hopes that his ministry and the ministry led by AHY can synergise to create a strong national defence.
