Defence Minister Introduces Major General Bagus Suryadi Tayo as Prospective Director General of Defence Strategy at Ministry

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian Defence Minister introduced the list of officials present at the meeting with Japanese Defence Minister Shinjiro Koizumi at the Bhinneka Tunggal Ika Building of the Indonesian Ministry of Defence (Kemenhan), Central Jakarta, on Monday (4/5/2026). First, the Indonesian Defence Minister introduced TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto.

Then, the Indonesian Defence Minister mentioned the Head of the Defence Logistics Agency (Kabaloghan) of the Ministry of Defence, Air Marshal Yusuf Jauhari, and the Indonesian Defence Attaché in Tokyo, Navy Captain Hidayaturrahman. Next, he introduced the Director General of Defence Strategy (Strahan) of the Ministry of Defence, Lieutenant General Agus Widodo.

The prospective Director General of Strahan at the Ministry of Defence, Major General Bagus Suryadi Tayo, who was seated to the left of Sjafrie, was also introduced. “I am also accompanied by the prospective Director General of Defence Strategy,” said Sjafrie, introducing his subordinate.

After that, Sjafrie mentioned the name of the Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Ministry of Defence, Lieutenant General Tri Budi Utomo. Subsequently, he appreciated the meeting with Shinjiro and the Japanese Ministry of Defence delegation to discuss point by point the Defence Cooperation Agreement (DCA).

In Republika’s notes, what was actually unique in that meeting was that Sjafrie was accompanied by Major General Bagus, who currently serves as the Commander of the 3rd Infantry Division (Pangdivif) 3/Kostrad. This graduate of the Military Academy (Akmil) class of 1993 also joined the flight of Sjafrie and Koizumi from Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang City, Banten, to I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Badung Regency, Bali, on Sunday (3/5/2026).
